Lagos police arrest seven high-ranking cultists in Ikorodu
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Mr. Adegoke Fayoade, has announced the arrest of seven high-ranking cultists in the Ikorodu area of the state.
The arrests were part of a strategic operation carried out within a span of five days.
Fayoade confirmed the arrests during an interaction with the Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria at the state’s command headquarters on Thursday.
He provided details on the operation, stating, “Three suspects were apprehended on Tuesday, while four were arrested on Thursday at different parts of Ikorodu in Lagos following intelligence.”
Assuring the residents of Lagos State of his commitment to addressing cultism, robbery, and kidnapping, Fayoade emphasized the importance of collaboration with media practitioners.
He views them as vital contributors to law enforcement efforts, describing them as his “eyes and ears” for feedback and information.
In a bid to strengthen the fight against crime, Fayoade outlined his partnership with the judiciary to ensure that arrested criminals face significant consequences.
He expressed transparency in his operations, emphasizing that no officer would be shielded from accountability in case of wrongdoing.
The Commissioner called on members of the public to provide information on any unprofessional conduct by police officers.
He urged Divisional Police Officers to create conducive environments in their stations for receiving reports and complaints from the public.
