Juventus sack Pirlo after one season
Italian club side, Juventus, have announced the sacking of Andrea Pirlo as its manager after just one season in charge of the club.
WUZUPNIGERIA, quoting Fabrizio Romano, reported that the club decided to part ways with Pirlo in order to make the way for the return of its former coach, Massimiliano Allegri.
A statement from the club’s website said: “Thanks Andrea. These are the first words that all of us must pronounce at the end of this special experience lived together.
“For the courage, the dedication, the passion with which he demonstrated every day, our thanks go to the ‘Maestro’, the coach and to Andrea, that really comes from the heart, as well as our good luck for the future that will surely be a wonderful one.”
Pirlo began his managerial career with the club last season when he took over from Maurizio Sarri, who was allowed to leave by Juve at the end of the 2019/20 season.
His sacking comes after the Old Lady endured a frustrating Serie A season as they were left fighting for a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League spot until the last day.
Their season was marred by their fourth-place finish in Serie A as well as the Old Lady’s elimination from the Champions League in the last 16 by FC Porto.
