Grammy award winner, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun known professionally as Wizkid, has won the Best Cinematography award at the 2021 MTV Video Music Award with the song ‘Brown Skin Girl’.

Beyonce’s “Brown Skin Girl” off her 2019 soundtrack album, The Lion King: The Gift, featured Wizkid and SAINt JHN.

Recall that the collaboration earned Wizkid his first Grammy in March in the Best Music Video category at the 63rd edition of the ceremony.

Pitched against Lady Gaga: “911” (cinematography: Jeff Cronenweth) and Justin Bieber ft. Chance the Rapper: “Holy” (cinematography: Elias Talbot), “Brown Skin Girl” claimed the award amongst the five other nominees in the category.

Meanwhile, Bruno Mars / Anderson .Paak / Silk Sonic defeated Beyoncé / Blue Ivy / Saint Jhn / WizKid’s “Brown Skin Girl” in the Best R&B category with the song “Leave the Door Open”.

Other nominees in the category include, Chris Brown / Young Thug: “Go Crazy” and H.E.R.: “Come Through” [ft. Chris Brown].
