Beyoncé has surprised fans with a new song, releasing “Morning Dew (Donk)” over the Fourth of July holiday weekend in the United States.

The 35-time Grammy Award-winning singer’s new track marks her first new music since she released her album Cowboy Carter in March 2024.

A release from her reps introduced the song as a “direct nod to her loyal BeyHive to commemorate the upcoming epic celebration of B’Day.”

Beyoncé’s second album, B’Day, was released in September 2006 and will this year mark its 20th anniversary.

“Morning Dew (Donk)” was reportedly initially set to be released as part of that 2006 LP, and the new release will appear on an upcoming 20th-anniversary reissue of B’Day.

The song was co-written by Beyoncé, Pharrell Williams, The-Dream and Darius Dixon, and produced by Beyoncé and Williams. It was released alongside a lyric video that reuses two-decade-old footage.

B’Day featured notable songs including “Deja Vu” featuring Jay-Z, “Irreplaceable” and “Ring the Alarm.” It was Beyoncé’s second number-one album and won Best Contemporary R&B Album at the 2007 Grammys.

The release of “Morning Dew” was accompanied by a black-and-white lyric video featuring archival footage directed by Cliff Watts, who famously shot Beyoncé’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover in 2007.

The song is described as a “special gift to her fans” and “is a direct nod to her loyal BeyHive,” according to a statement from Beyoncé’s Parkwood Entertainment.

“Morning Dew” is Beyoncé’s first new song since her Cowboy Carter country album release in March 2024. That album won her a long-awaited Album of the Year Grammy, and she is already the most-awarded artist in Grammy history.

Fans are eagerly anticipating new music and news about a rumored Act III album, which would complete a three-act project that began with Renaissance and continued with Cowboy Carter.
