JUST IN: Super Eagles midfielder, John Ogu, loses mum
Nigerian professional footballer, John Ogu, has announced the sad passing of his mother on Friday, January 29, 2021.
The news comes in just two weeks after the death of the mother of Super Falcons and Barcelona striker, Assisat Oshoala.
Speaking via his verified Twitter handle, the 32-year-old midfielder announced that his mother died on Saturday after years of battle with cancer.
“Hello everyone, thank you for all the phone calls, texts, comments and prayers over the last few days. My friends, teammates, fans and well-wishers, I appreciate everyone who has reached out in one way or the other.
“My mother had been battling cancer for many years now, and she, unfortunately, passed away on Saturday. It is never easy to deal with the loss of a loved one, but you all have made me feel loved and have helped me to gain the strength to cope.
“Thank you so much once again for the love shown towards me and my family. RIP Mum,” Ogu tweeted.
