Afrobeats sensation Joseph Akinfenwa-Donus, widely known as Joeboy, has embarked on a significant career move by signing a dual deal with the global music powerhouse, Warner Music.

The deal not only marks Joeboy’s departure from Empawa, where he spent five successful years under the mentorship of Mr. Eazi but also signals the launch of his record label, Young Legend, in collaboration with Warner Music.

In this dual deal, Joeboy becomes Warner Music’s latest flagship artist representing Africa alongside global superstars like Ed Sheeran, Cardi B, Burna Boy, and Ckay.

During his tenure at Empawa, Joeboy released two EPs (Love & Light and Body, Soul & Spirit), two albums (Somewhere Between Beauty & Magic and Body & Soul), and a series of hit singles and collaborations, accumulating over 2 billion streams across major digital streaming platforms.

Under the banner of Young Legend, Joeboy assumes the role of CEO, steering the direction of his own entertainment venture.

Deola Jaiyesimi has been appointed as the Head of the label, tasked with nurturing the next wave of Afrobeats superstars on a global scale.

Sharing the news on social media with a ritual-themed video, Joeboy expressed his excitement for the dawn of a new era, stating, “Young Legend is alive.”

This move mirrors the trajectory of other Nigerian music icons like Olamide, Don Jazzy, and his former label boss, Mr. Eazi, who have utilized their influence and business expertise to spotlight emerging talents while elevating their own status in the global music scene.
