The United States Embassy in Abuja says its public operations will be reduced effective from Friday, July 16, 2021.

A statement posted on the embassy’s Facebook page on Thursday night called the development ‘a security precaution.’

It also noted that since July 20 and July 21 are holidays in Nigeria, the embassy is scheduled to be closed on those days.

The US Embassy further disclosed that its full public operations will resume on Monday, July 26.

With such closure, it is expected that services will be affected in the routine American visa section and the Education Advising Center.

The statement also advised Americans who may experience an emergency to contact the duty officer through the Embassy switchboard.

Ahead of next Tuesday and Wednesday’s public holidays to mark the 2021 Eid-el-Kabir celebration, WuzupNigeria learnt security is being heightened in the nation’s capital and many states.
