How Mourinho warned Tottenham players about Pogba

Published

All or Nothing, a documentary on Amazon has shown Tottenham Hotspurs manager, Jose Mourinho, issuing a warning to his players about Paul Pogba.

This was during his side’s 2-1 loss to Manchester United last season.

Tottenham got the lead through Steven Begrwijn before the introduction of Pogba in the second half.

Pogba’s introduction was vital as he won a penalty for United which was converted by Bruno Fernandes. He went on to set up Marcus Rashford for the winner.

Before the second half, Mourinho could be heard telling his boys to beware of the creativity of the French international.

He said, “I think, for sure, sooner or later Pogba is coming. And every time Pogba has the ball, he will have the vision, he will have the quality of pass.

“So Pogba will improve the quality of passing, so we need to press him. And we need to control what is far from him.

“There is a lot of space to counter-attack and to kill them.”

He once again reminded the players as they got up to return to the pitch: “Don’t let Pogba shoot! If he approaches the box, press the ball if he shoots!”
