Hoodlums assault Ondo commissioner, disrupt bursary award ceremony

Suspected political thugs on Wednesday invaded the premises of the Ondo State Oil Development Area Development Commission and launched a violent attack on Commissioner Kehinde Akinrotoye during the bursary and scholarship award ceremony.

According to reports, the assailants, disrupted the event with gunshots and physical violence, leading to chaos as both staff and students attending the award ceremony sought safety.

The attackers, arriving in hired vehicles, fired shots into the premises, preventing the scheduled event from taking place.

The Commissioner, widely known as ‘Bonsue Aketi,’ bore the brunt of the attack, suffering a physical assault.

The hoodlums also targeted the vehicle that transported the Commissioner to the event, as well as another vehicle within the premises, causing extensive damage.

However, the Ondo State Police Command eventually brought the situation under control.

The security officers had to close the gate leading to the office for security reasons.

As of this time of report, the reason for the attack remains unclear, and neither OSOPADEC nor the State Police Command has issued a statement regarding the incident.
