A 19-year-old man, Joseph Godwin, who allegedly raped of a four-year-old girl has been remanded in prison by a Badagry Magistrates’ Court.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Patrick Adekomaya, on Wednesday ordered the accused to be remanded and adjourned the case until Sept. 26, for further hearing.
Godwin, whose residential address was not given, was arraigned on a four-count of rape, indecent assault, sexual assault and breach of peace.
The Prosecutor, Akpan Ikem, had told the court that the accused committed the offences at about 8:50 p.m. on Aug. 10 at No 26, Iyegbe St., Iba Town, Lagos State, he said;
“He sexually touched the four-year-old girl in violation of Sections 168 and 261 of Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
“He indecently and unlawfully dealt with the young girl without her consent and violated Section 135 of Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
“Godwin also did conduct himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace by sexually assaulting a four-year-old girl by having sex with her.
“This act violated the Section 166 of Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011,“he said.
He told the court that the offences committed were punishable under Section 259 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
