Group lauds Buhari on military raid against bandits in Zamfara

Published

The Northern Youths Democratic Network, a pressure group, has lauded the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) for taking military action against bandits in Zamfara.

This was contained in a statement jointly signed by the group’s President, Mr Dauda Mathias and Secretary, Mr Yahaya Abdullahi, on Sunday in Lafia.

“Based on the information available to us, the military is decisively dealing with all criminal elements in Zamfara due to the shutdown of the mobile network.

“The shutdown of mobile network has helped in preventing the bandits from getting information on the movement of the military thereby, given the military advantage over the criminals,” it said.

The group expressed confidence in the ability of the Buhari-led administration to tackle challenges confronting youths in the country.

The statement said that the Nigerian youths were hitherto neglected and schemed out of governance by successive governments, commending the President for changing the narrative for the better.

“The President through the various social investment programmes has been able to transform the lives of so many Nigerian youths.

“We have been monitoring the activities of politicians, especially those of Northern extraction and we will recommend some of them that are performing to the President for federal appointment.

“For now, we will like Mr President to nominate Mr Babangida Nguroje, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives as Minister from Taraba given his track record in public service.

“It is an irrefutable fact that Nigerian politics is divided along religious, ethnic and tribal lines, but Nguroje is a different person,” it said.

The group added: “The former Deputy Speaker has done so much for the people, irrespective of their religious or political affiliation.

“These are the kind of people Nigerian want, especially youths for appointment into public offices.”
