In its announcement, Sony Music Publishing described Dam’s artistry as a blend of spiritual depth, intimacy and melodic craftsmanship. His style is shaped by his worship ministry and influences from soft rock, R&B and classical music.

“ We’re proud to welcome Nigerian worship leader, singer-songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist @officialdaviddam to the SMP family!” the company wrote.

The publisher highlighted several of Dam’s songs, including “Ebenezer,” “Elohim Adonai,” “Worship Medley,” “Only Yeshua” and “Father of Mercy.”

It also referenced “Rest on Me,” his collaboration with gospel minister Theophilus Sunday. This is part of the body of work that has strengthened his presence in contemporary African worship music.

Sony Music Publishing said it looked forward to supporting the next stage of the singer’s musical journey.

“We’re honoured to welcome David to the family and look forward to supporting the next chapter of his musical journey,” the company stated.

The announcement places Dam among Nigerian musicians who have entered partnerships with Sony Music Publishing West Africa.

The company has previously announced publishing deals involving Nigerian artistes and music figures, including highlife legend Bright Chimezie.

Unlike a conventional record-label signing, a music publishing agreement generally concerns the administration, licensing and commercial use of musical compositions. However, Sony Music Publishing West Africa’s announcement did not disclose the specific terms or scope of its agreement with Dam.

Dam is known within Nigeria’s gospel music scene for his worship ministry. His songs have gained attention among Christian audiences. His collaboration with Theophilus Sunday on “Rest on Me” is among the releases highlighted in the announcement.

The signing marks a new development in the singer’s career. He continues to create music centred on worship and Christian faith.
