The GoFundMe page created to raise funds to cover the legal cost of the embattled actor, Olanrenwaju Omiyinka, professionally known as Baba Ijesha, has been taken down from the website, The PUNCH reports.

Baba Ijesha had been arraigned over the defilement of a minor, sexual assault by penetration, attempted sexual assault by penetration, and sexual assault, which contravene sections 135, 137, 261, 202, 262, and 263 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.

His miserable plight and media trial seemed to generate sympathy from friends, fans, and a section of his professional colleagues.

One of such supporters is Ireland-based Oladele Matti who set up the fundraiser page captioned, ‘Help Olanrewaju Omiyinka with Legal Costs’ with the aim of raising €50,000.

Matti further explained the reason behind organising the fundraiser for the distressed actor.

Matti said, “Hi, my name is Oladele Matti and I am fundraising for Olanrewaju Omiyinka aka Baba Ijesha legal costs. A gesture of support/goodwill/solidarity to assist with the legal costs of a complicated and lengthy process that will likely offer the best chance of successfully obtaining fairness and justice.”

The development created tension and backlashes online with many celebrities questioning why the actor should be rendered such assistance.
