Ganduje’s aide sacked for criticising Buhari departs Nigeria

Yakasai Ganduje Buhari

Salihu Tanko Yakasai, former aide to Kano Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, who was sacked for criticising the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd) has left the country.

Recall that Yakasai ran into trouble with the Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje for criticising the president over the heightened insecurity in the north, following the abduction of over 300 schoolgirls by bandits from a school in Jabgebe, Zamfara State.

He tweeted that Buhari had failed Nigerians, adding that hypocrites in the north would have called for impeachment amidst the height of insecurity if the sitting president was a non-northerner.

Following his sack by Ganduje, Yakasai was arrested by the Department for State Security on Friday, 26th February for the same offence.

The action of the governor as well as the DSS attracted backlash from a considerable number of Nigerians who called for his release with the hashtag #FreeDawisu.

Yakasai who goes by @Dawisu on Twitter bid farewell to his followers via a tweet on Wednesday evening barely a month after being released from the custody of the DSS.

“Japa….. Goodbye Naija! Alhamdulilah,” Dawisu wrote to his 225.2 thousand followers, with photos of himself at the airport, though he did not disclose his destination.

Reacting to his departure, a follower @saka_3rd wished him well with the hope that he would continually speak up against bad governance in Nigeria.

“The aftermath of this will be fun. I look forward to your “damaging” tweets from the abroad. I hope you design it for maximum casualty,” he said.

Another follower, @Truthfully83 added, “We will soon hear the true story about Gandollar gate, Emir Sanusi saga, 2015/2019 election rigging results in Kano, and the true sponsors of terrorism in Nigeria. @renoomokri, you now have a worthy ally in the abroad. DAWISU WILL SING LIKE THE CANARY BIRD.”

However, @hamdalapet’s expressed concerns about his ‘exit’ from the country.

“Haba Dawisu, stay with us and let us salvage the country together. 2023 is knocking on the door and the battle would be between us and them, between the youths and those expired cargoes.”
