FRSC educates NURTW on danger of overloading

Published

Kwara Sector Command,  Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has called on the National Union of Road Transport Workers, to desist from overloading their vehicles with passengers and goods at various parks.

In a statement issued in Ilorin on Saturday by its Sector Commander, Mr. Jonathan Owoade, FRSC made the call at a town hall sensitization meeting with the executives and members of NURTW in Ilorin.

Owoade urged them to rise against the overloading of commercial vehicles and taxis at parks and terminals.

He stressed the need for the union’s executives to stop road encroachment by unlawfully parking their vehicles on the road thereby creating illegal parks and preventing the free flow of vehicular movement.

According to him, all vehicle owners and drivers should ensure proper maintenance of their vehicles at all times.

He warned road users against speeding while driving, saying that such an act could cause more disasters and casualties as recorded when vehicles traveled at a higher speed than what is obtainable at low speed.
