Four die as vehicles plunge into Osun stream
A fatal road accident that occurred along Ilesha/Ife expressway in Osun State has left four people dead.
Two vehicles involved were said to have skidded off the road at Balogun Junction and fell into a nearby stream.
Sources near the scene of the accident said a vehicle coming behind hit the one in front of it, and the two vehicles veered off the road then fell into a stream.
Police, Public Relations Officer for Osun Command, Folasade Odoro, who confirmed the accident said the remains of the four people had been deposited at the morgue of Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile Ife.
Explaining how it occurred, Odoro said the Command was briefed about it on Friday.
According to her, the accident occurred on Thursday, adding that a Volkswagen Passat car with the registration No ABC 918 KY and a Toyota Corona with the Registration NO EPE748EEX were involved.
She said,
“The Passat was said to have hit the Toyota Corona from the rear, as a result of that, both vehicles somersaulted and fell into a stream by the roadside.
“The driver of the Toyota car and three other occupants of the vehicle died on the spot. The investigation is ongoing.”
