Former Anambra gov Mbadinuju laid to rest

Former Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Chinwoke Mbadinuju, has been laid to rest today at his country home in Ndikpa Village, Uli, Ihiala Local Government Area of the state. 

Mbadinuju passed away on April 11, 2023.

His final journey began with a formal lying-in-state ceremony at the Anambra State Government House, Awka, followed by a commendation service at the International Convention Centre, Awka, where many of Anambra’s sons and daughters paid their respects. 

Governor Soludo and other former governors, distinguished guests, and the people of Anambra State joined in an interdenominational service to pray for the peaceful repose of Mbadinuju’s soul.

Musical tributes to former Governor Mbadinuju were offered throughout the service, attended by former Governors Chris Ngige and Peter Obi, Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, Ebonyi State Deputy Governor, Patricia Obila, Director General, South East Governors’ Forum, Senator Uche Ekwunife, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, among others.

A 21-gun salute was used to bid farewell to Dr. Chinwoke Mbadinuju, who was governor of the state between 1999 and 2003.

Mbadinuju, governor from 1999 to 2003 under the People’s Democratic Party, is remembered for introducing the Monday Morning Prayers in Anambra State and his slogan, “It Shall be Well with Anambra State.”
