Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has praised President Bola Tinubu for approving the design and procurement of two major roads linking Anambra State with neighbouring states, which are vital Southeast road projects.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Soludo said the approval followed his meeting with Tinubu on July 1 and subsequent discussions with the Minister of Works and Infrastructure, Senator Dave Umahi. These meetings focused on advancing key Southeast road projects to boost the region’s infrastructure.

The governor said Umahi requested details of the roads they had previously discussed, prompting him to submit information on the two projects on July 3.

The proposed roads include the 108-kilometre Otuocha–Anam–Abaji road, which will connect Anambra to Kogi State, and the 150-kilometre Oba–Nnewi–Uga–Ihube road. Both are significant Southeast road projects supporting regional connectivity.

The second road will link Anambra and Imo states to the Enugu–Port Harcourt road through Abia State.

Soludo describes roads as game-changers

Soludo said the Ministry of Works informed him on July 15 that Tinubu had approved both roads for design and procurement.

“These two roads constitute critical game-changers for the South-East, South-South and North Central,” he said.

The governor described the approvals as further evidence of Tinubu’s commitment to rebuilding infrastructure across the Southeast.

He said the administration had started several foundational projects capable of transforming the region, adding that his government would later release a more comprehensive list of the ongoing interventions. In summary, the focus remains on advancing Southeast road projects for economic impact.

Soludo also praised Tinubu’s infrastructure record in Lagos, describing him as “the man who tamed the Atlantic Ocean in Lagos.”

He said the President’s approach to governance and regional development would change the political and economic outlook of the Southeast.

According to him, Tinubu was “redefining politics” in a way that would ensure that the region would “not be the same again.”

The governor also commended Umahi for helping to secure the swift approval of the projects, describing him as an effective and productive minister.

Soludo said the development reflected his administration’s commitment to collaborating with the Federal Government and building alliances that produce meaningful results for residents.

He thanked Tinubu for approving the two Southeast road projects and expressed confidence that the roads would improve transportation, trade and economic connections among states in the Southeast, South-South and North-Central regions.
