Fire Service saves N162m property in Bauchi

The Federal Fire Service in Bauchi State, says it has recorded 100 fire incidents and saved N162 million worth of properties in 2021.

Mr Alfa Baro, Assistant Controller General of the Service incharge of Zone C, made this known during a courtesy visit to Gov. Bala Mohammed, on Tuesday in Bauchi.

Baro said that the calls were recorded between January and December 2021.

He said the Service was equipped with modern fire fighting equipments including two units of 5,000 liter capacity vehicles, 10,000 liter capacity water tank, ambulance among others.

“Plans to provide emergency fire fighting trucks are on the pipeline,” he said.

According to him, the Service is complementing the state fire service, especially considering the growing cosmopolitan status of Bauchi metropolis.

Baro urged the government to provide operational vehicles to the Service to enahance fire and emergency response services in the state.

In his response, Mohammed lauded the Service for providing the fire fighting gadgets, stressing that we would continue to support your complementary services in the state.

Mohammed said the state government was considering establishment of an emergency agency to fight disasters such as flooding and fire outbrakes.

“The state will be providing you with little monthly stipend as logistics.

“We will soon procure additional fire fighting vehicles to complement the existing ones in the state,” he said.
