FG evacuates 306 stranded Nigerians from UAE

306 more stranded Nigerians in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have arrived in Nigeria, the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) said on Wednesday.

NiDCOM, which disclosed this on its Twitter handle, said the evacuees landed at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport [NAIA], Abuja via Air Peace, around 8. 44 am.

The commission added that some evacuees will disembark in Abuja, while others will proceed to the Murtala Muhammed International Airport [MMIA], Lagos.

“@flyairpeace flight conveying 306 Evacuees arrive Nnamdi Azikiwe Int’l Airport, Abuja at about 0844HRS from UEA, today Wednesday, 5th of August, 2020,” NIDCOM tweeted.

Recall, the first set of Nigerians struck abroad (over 260) was evacuated from UAE on May 6 via an Emirate Airline flight, Eons Intelligence reports.

NiDCOM revealed that all evacuees tested negative for COVID-19 before boarding and would immediately begin the mandatory 14 days isolation as directed by the Federal Government and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
