#FasholaHatesNorth trends as Northern elders urge Buhari to sack Fashola
Twitter users were left divided on Monday as Northerners call out Minister of Works and Power, Babatunde Raji Fashola over alleged incompetence.
#FasholaHatesNorth became a Twitter discussion after the Northern Elders Forum urged the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd) to sack the minister.
Speaking on behalf of the forum, the Chairman of Maje Foundation, Alhaji Rufai Mukhtar Danmaje also urged the former Lagos governor to resign his position for failing to complete any projects since his assumption of office as Works Minister five years ago.
“For example look at the issue of Mambila Hydro Power project. Over time the Minister has been deceiving the President and indeed Nigerians that works have reached high percentage but only for a committee to now expose that there is nothing on ground there”.
Speaking further, Danmaje said, “if people like Fashola continue to talk about rotational Presidency back to the South, they might provoke us to reject voting for anybody from that region because we consider him a failure and nothing more.
“You could see that no single road project is been completed under Fashola in the entire Northern Nigeria even the darling Kano, Kaduna, Abuja road he is saying can’t be completed till after their tenure, so what are we saying?” – Danmaje added.
While some Northerners took to Twitter to call out Fashola over the alleged incompetence with the #FasholaHAtesNorth, some argued that the Northerners ought to focus on how to stop killings by Boko Haram rather than blame Fashola for incomplete roads when the blame should go to Buhari.
Twitter users were left divided on Monday morning as they shared their views on the trend #FasholaHatesNorth.
According to Abdul-Aziz Na’ibi Abubakar, @jrnaib2, said: “Some of our northern people think Fashola is the one to blame for not constructing roads or whatever in the north, what are your representatives doing at d national assembly? they have d constitutional right to add or remove projects from every year budget.
“Burutai is enjoying his life playing golf in Abuja, while Boko Haram are killing our Arewa brothers but we didn’t trend #BurutaiHatesNorth we’re only saying #FasholaHatesNorth. Are we doing justice for ourselves???”
Another user, @MisterTee_2011 said, “it is nothing but a misplaced priority for any northerner to trend #FasholaHatesNorth. Could you please show me one evidence to back your points that truly @tundefashola
hates north rather flex your muscle to the real enemies of the north whom you all know so don’t be hypocrites.”
No amount of intimidation can stop us. We will continue voicing out till the necessary actions are taken.#FasholaHatesNorth

Another user, David adcore truth, with the username @DavidAd_7 said, “Ever since @tundefashola did his detective action at lekki he lose me but, that he hates North is a lie just a smokescreen, well only elites in the game of politics understand, the real goal is to silent him from talking about power shift #FasholaHatesNorth”
@Abyuusuuf_ was, however, of a different opinion, saying: “In such a misery situation of banditry, abduction, Boko haram insurgency !!! But yet our roads are ill-equipped for more coexistence of our societies. @tundefashola this isn’t fair !!#FasholaHatesNorth”
“Many peoples are dying in northern Nigeria due to the poor of roads we have and this guy Fashola said our projects will not be continued till 2025, Fashola nah wicked he hated northers at all.,” another user, @Auwerlmusa said.
Instead of blaming the President for the incomplete roads, you are blaming Fashola with this useless #FasholaHatesNorth. Indeed ?? pic.twitter.com/SXo0R7raq1
