Nigerian football stars have expressed concerns over the injury of Villareal’s Samuel Chukwueze ahead of their Europa League final against Manchester United.

Villareal saw off Arsenal in the semifinal by 2-1 on aggregate on Thursday after playing a goalless draw at the Emirates but Chukwueze didn’t make it past the break on the pitch.

Despite an impressive display against Arsenal’s makeshift left-back, Granit Xhaka, in the first leg, the Super Eagles’ forward was forced off after 29 minutes in the second leg when he picked up an injury and could miss the final against the Red Devils on May 26.

Responding after the injury, Chukwueze took to his verified Instagram handle to congratulate his team for the victory. He added that he can’t wait to return to full action, although the extent of his injury is yet to be determined.

“To the finals. Can’t wait to be back soon. Thank you all for your messages,” he told his 193k followers while sharing a photo of the encounter as well.

However, his injury has been a matter of concern for the Super Eagles, Falcons players including Victor Osimhen and Assisat Oshoala.

Reacting in the comment section, Napoli’s Osimhen wrote: “Just tell me say you dey ok,” he said, before adding “congratulations brother” for the qualification.

Meanwhile, Barcelona Women striker, Oshoala added: “Oga Wetin do you? No Dey let me fear ooo”

Former Manchester United and ex-Nigeria striker, Odion Ighalo, as well as Leicester City’s in-form goalscorer, Kelechi Iheanacho, joined in congratulating his compatriot for the club’s achievement.

Ihenacho said, Nnaa bia me’tee gi ori, Congrats which translates thus: “Come on my brother!”

Also, RB Salzburg’s Switzerland midfielder of Nigerian descent, Noah Okafor and Barcelona’s defender, Roger Riera, showed support for Chukwueze.
