EPL: Fulham, Tottenham clash postponed over COVID-19 outbreak

Published

Fulham Wednesday evening clash with Tottenham has been postponed due to the rise in COVID-19 cases at the Craven Cottage.

The visitors could not make the trip to the Tottenham Stadium after a number of new positive tests were recorded by the West London club.

As such, the Premier League revealed there were 18 positive coronavirus cases across the league – the highest figure recorded this season – following the latest round of testing.

With the game at Spurs called-off, there are now three Premier League matches that have been affected by COVID-19 outbreak.

Everton’s game against Manchester City was called off this week while Newcastle match against Aston Villa was called off on December 4 after the Magpies recorded positive cases.

The club’s statement read: “The Club can confirm that this evening’s away fixture at Tottenham Hotspur has been postponed. This follows a number of the Club’s players and first team staff returning positive results from the most recent Covid-19 tests this week.

This decision follows discussions with the Premier League and advice from Public Health England.

Those players and staff who tested positive have been self-isolating in line with UK Government and Premier League guidance.

We wish the players and staff who tested positive a safe and speedy recovery.”
