End SARS: Obaseki gives escaped inmates 48hours to return
Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to inmates who escaped from the Medium Security Correctional Centres on Sapele Road and Oko, Airport Road, to return to the prisons.
Recall it was said that hoodlums had hijacked the #EndSARS protests and attacked two prisons and freed about 2,000 inmates.
While inspecting the two correctional facilities today, Obaseki said the freed inmates must return before this Friday.
In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Communication Strategy, Crusoe Osagie, he made it clear that criminal elements caused unrest in the State.
“We know some of the inmates have been released, but we appeal to all inmates who have escaped to come back on their own before the close of business on Friday.
“They should report themselves back as nothing will be done to them but failure to do that, we will come after them as we have their records,” the statement read in part.
