After winning an impressive 38 awards at the Emmy for all its seasons, American fantasy drama television series, Game of Thrones, has become the most awarded scripted series in Emmys history.

The series surpassed the previous record-holder, sitcom Frasier, which has an overall total of 37 wins.

Game of Thrones was presented with the prestigious Outstanding Drama Series prize, as well as Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series for executive producers David Benioff and D. B. Weiss, it and Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series for Miguel Sapochnik.

Game of Thrones went into the ceremony with nine wins from the Creative Arts Emmys, which took place the weekend before – giving them a total of 38 wins for their six-season history.

The adaptation of American novel, Song of Ice and Fire,   was rivalled at Sunday night’s event only by newcomer “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story,” which won five prizes, including best limited series.
