Driver defrauds employer, arraigned in court
A driver, Najeem Lasisi, 42, was on Friday arraigned in an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ibadan for allegedly defrauding his employer of N200, 000.
The police charged Lasisi, whose address was not given with fraud, theft and malicious damage.
The prosecution counsel, Insp Femi Omilana, told the court that Lasisi, who worked as driver for a transport company on March 5, at Felele area, Ibadan, defrauded his employer of N200,000.
Omilana alleged that the defendant obtained the money from a customer on behalf of his boss, Saheed Mufutau and converted it to his private use.
He said the offence contravened the provisions of 390 (9), 451 and 419 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.The Senior Magistrate, Mrs. Munirat Giwa-Babalola, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Giwa-Babalola adjourned the matter until May 26, for hearing.
