Don’t be a tough guy, don’t be a fool, Trump tells Turkey president in bizarre letter [Photo]
United States President, Donald Trump has written a bizarre and threatening letter to his counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Turkey, warning him not to be a fool and a tough guy.
The vociferous US President ignored all forms of diplomacy in the letter dated October 9, sent the day Turkey launched its incursion into north-eastern Syria.
The letter which was first obtained by a Fox Business reporter is coming a few days after US pulled its troops from the Kurdish-dominated region.
Trump threatened Erdogan he would wreck Turkey’s economy if the invasion went too far.
In his usual authoritative tone, he told the Turkish president:
“History will look upon you forever as the devil if good things don’t happen. “Don’t be a tough guy. Don’t be a fool!”
He wrote:
“Let’s work out a good deal! You don’t want to be responsible for slaughtering thousands of people, and I don’t want to be responsible for destroying the Turkish economy – and I will.
“History will look upon you favorably if you get this done the right and humane way. It will look upon you forever as the devil if good things don’t happen.
“Don’t be a tough guy. Don’t be a fool!” he concluded.
“I will call you later,” he added.
