Davido hints quitting music after next album
Nigerian afrobeats sensation, Davido, has dropped a bombshell, hinting at a possible exit from the music scene after his next album.
The renowned artist, whose real name is David Adeleke, made this revelation on Thursday night in response to manipulated images and videos circulating online aimed at tarnishing his reputation.
In a candid statement on his social media handle, Davido expressed frustration, suggesting that some individuals are determined to force him out of the music industry.
“Y’all really want me out of the game that bad? Okay, after my next album, I’m done. Then you can have your peace,” he wrote.
The Afrobeat had recently stated that since he came into the industry, most of his colleagues haven’t experienced peace of mind.
Wizkid had also recently reignited their long-standing rivalry with Davido with a fiery exchange on social media which stemmed from a series of social media exchanges and subtle jabs.
Davido’s exit announcement comes hot on the heels of his monumental performance at the Madison Square Garden on April 17, 2024. The historic event marked the third time an African artist had headlined a show at the prestigious venue.
In 2016, Davido established his music label, DMW, which has since become a home to budding talents in the industry like Mayorkun, Peruzzi, and Dremo.
The singer’s recent achievements have not gone unnoticed, earning him his maiden Grammy Awards nomination in three categories, including ‘Best Global Album’ for his latest project, “Timeless.”
