COVID-19 death toll hits 1,074 in Nigeria
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) recorded 1,074 new cases of the COVID-19 in the country, in the last 24 hours, the health agency announced on its verified website on Friday.
The agency reports that since the beginning of the outbreak in February, more than 948,048 samples had been tested by NCDC, out of which 88,587 were returned positive.
The country sadly recorded five additional deaths in the last 24 hours, 459 patients were discharged from isolation centres across the country, after recovering from the Coronavirus, NCDC said.
Adding that the new infections were recorded in 14 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), with the breaking showing that Lagos lead with Lagos (642), Kaduna (92), Rivers (78), FCT (66), Gombe (66), Kano (35), Ogun (31), Katsina (22), Plateau (20), Abia (7), Niger (4), Oyo (4), Akwa Ibom (3), Delta (2), and Osun (2)
NCDC noted that till date, 88587 cases have been confirmed, 74373 cases have been discharged and 1294 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory
The agency said that the multi-sectoral national Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, continued to coordinate the national response activities.
