Court remands farmer for alleged armed robbery

A Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday ordered that a 34-year-old farmer, Friday Adamu, be remanded in a correctional centre for alleged armed robbery.

The police charged Adamu, who resides in Gyeani Village LGA of Kaduna, is charged with criminal conspiracy and armed robbery.

Magistrate Hajara Dauda did not take the plea of Adamu for want in jurisdiction.

Dauda also ordered the police to duplicate and forward the case file to the State Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice.

She adjourned the case until February 24, for further mention.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp Sunday Baba told the court that Adamu committed the offence on December 28, 2021 by 11 p.m at Gidan Waya Jema’a LGA of Kaduna.

He said that Adamu and two others, now at large, attacked Paul Simon of Gidan Waya and his Hawei phone worth N25, 000, two ATM cards and N525, 000 cash.

Baba said the offence contravenes the provisions of sections 59 and 283 of the Kaduna State Penal Code, 2017.
