Court remands butcher for alleged defilement
An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday ordered that a 42- year-old botcher, Godwin Joseph, who allegedly defiled a 17-year-old boy be remanded in Kirikiri Prisons, pending legal advice.
Magistrate B.O Osunsanmi who did not take the plea of the defendant ordered that he should be kept behind bars pending the legal advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions.
Joseph, who resides at Ojo, Lagos, is being tried for defilement.
She adjourned the case until Aug. 26 for mention.
The Police Prosecutor, Ezekiel Ayorinde, told the court the defendant committed the offense in April in his residence.
He said that the defendant sexually assaulted the 17-year-old teenager.
Ayorinde alleged that the defendant tricked the boy who was hawking his goods into thinking that he would buy what he was selling.
The offense, he said, contravened the provisions of Section 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The section prescribes life imprisonment.
