Court nullifies Senator Abbo’s election, declares PDP’s Yohanna winner
The Court of Appeal in Abuja has nullified the election of Senator Elisha Abbo as the lawmaker representing the Adamawa North district.
The court ruled on Monday that the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Amos Yohanna, was the true winner of the senatorial election.
Yohanna had challenged Abbo’s victory at the tribunal in Yola, claiming that Abbo did not get the majority of lawful votes cast during the election.
He also accused Abbo of the All Progressive Congress of benefiting from irregularities and violations of the Electoral Act 2022.
In his petition numbered EPT/AD/SEN/02/2023, he cited over-voting, false entries, alteration, and cancellation of votes at several polling units.
