Chelsea secured their first win of the 2023-24 season as they defeated Luton Town 3-0 at a rainy Stamford Bridge. Raheem Sterling was the show’s star, scoring twice.

 

Sterling opened the scoring for Chelsea in the 17th minute. The former Manchester City forward artfully weaved through Luton’s defense before calmly slotting into the bottom corner.

 

Despite not managing a shot on target in the first half, newly promoted Luton continued to battle in the second half, but Sterling quashed any hopes of a comeback with his second goal in the 68th minute.

 

Nico Jackson nailed the Hatters’ coffin in the 75th minute to seal the victory for the London club.

 

The loss leaves Luton without points from their first two Premier League matches following promotion. Meanwhile, Chelsea secured three vital points in their first win of the season under new boss Pochettino.
