Liverpool qualified for the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup by defeating Preston North End 2-0 on Wednesday night.

Belgian striker, Divock Origi, netted an outrageous backheel to seal the victory for The Reds who fielded an entirely different team from the side that humiliated Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Preston were the better side in the first half as they drew Liverpool keeper, Adrián, to a number of saves but failed to make Jurgen Klopp’s side pay.

The hosts would later rue the missed chances in the second half when Takumi Minamino scored the crucial opener with Liverpool’s first shot on target in the 60th minute.

Liverpool pushed for the kill and got it through Origi’s magical flick in the 84th minute to kill Preston’s resistance.

The Reds have now entered the quarter-finals for the second time in three seasons with the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea already through to the last eight.
