Liverpool decimate Leeds to blow title race wide open

Published

The Premier League title race has been blown wide open after Liverpool thumped Leeds United 6-0 at Anfield Stadium on Wednesday night.

Jurgen Klopp’s men have now moved three points adrift league leaders Manchester City who now have as low as a four-goal difference over the Reds.

WuzupNigeria reported that City were dealt a major blow on Saturday when they fell to a 3-2 defeat against Tottenham who denied them a chance to go nine points clear of Klopp’s side before tonight’s clash with Leeds.

Egyptian star, Mohamed Salah, opened the floodgates with a penalty in the 15th-minute Joël Matip doubled the lead with a brilliant strike 15 minutes later.

Salah completed his brace in the 35th-minute to give Klopp’s side a comfortable 3-0 lead into the break.

Sadio Mané added two more (80′, 90′) to make it 5-0 before another unusual goalscorer, Virgil van Dijk (90+3′) rounded off the five-star performance to make it 6-0.

Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 26 home matches in all competitions (W19 D7); since losing six in a row at Anfield in a run ending in March 2021, per POOL.

The Reds are the only Premier League side not to lose in a home game in all competitions this season.
