Boko Haram kills army lieutenant, six others on Borno-Yobe road
An attack by armed Boko Haram members has resulted in the tragic death of a military officer and six other soldiers along the Biu-Buratai-Buni Yadi Road, which connects Borno and Yobe states.
The ambush, which took place on Thursday evening, targeted a military vehicle carrying the Lieutenant, whose identity has been withheld, along with other soldiers. The incident occurred on a stretch of road notorious for deadly attacks, posing a significant risk to travelers.
According to reliable sources, the assault led to the killing of the officer, a driver, a gunner, and four other soldiers. Reports indicate that several terrorists were also neutralized during a firefight with troops near Kamuya village.
Confirming the incident, a security source stated, “Yes, based on the situation report, soldiers of 135 Special Force BN FOB in Buratai were ambushed by terrorists on their way to Damaturu, Yobe State capital. Unfortunately, one officer was killed, including a driver, a gunner, plus four other escorts.”
