Beans seller drags three customers to court for refusing to pay N226, 000 debt
Mercy Elisha, a beans seller, on Thursday dragged three of her customers before a Magistrates’ court in Kafanchan, Kaduna State, over their refusal to settle a debt of N226, 000.
Marshall Timothy, Lami Christopher and Baiwa Richard were docked on two counts of breach of trust and cheating, contrary to sections 296 and 307 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law, 2017.
Elisha, through a direct complaint before the court, alleged that in January, Timothy, Christopher and Richard jointly bought 452 measures of beans at the rate of N500 per measure from her.
She said that the defendants promised to pay the money and they never did.
When the charge was read to them, they all pleaded not guilty.
The presiding judge, Michael Bawa, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N100, 000 each and a surety in like sum.
Bawa adjourned the matter until Feb. 24 for a hearing in the case.
