Former Big Brother Naija Season 11 housemate Gerard Osinitega Adebija has revealed that acting will remain his main career focus. Gerard acting career is now taking centre stage as he looks to build on the exposure gained from the reality show.

According to Nigerian Tribune, the 23-year-old actor, radio host and content creator said he was already pursuing acting before entering the BBNaija house. Now, he hopes the platform will open doors to bigger roles and stronger film projects, reinforcing the importance of the Gerard acting career.

“I want to go into acting. I’m already acting. I was already acting before I entered the house,” Gerard said.

He added that the increased visibility from the show could help him secure “more roles, more screen time, better quality movies overall, the big screen, the whole thing.” In fact, many fans are watching the Gerard acting career with interest.

Gerard puts acting ahead of other interests

Although Gerard plans to explore television hosting, presenting, public speaking, modelling and brand partnerships, he said acting remains his priority. As a result, the Gerard acting career remains firmly in the spotlight.

“Brand deals, ambassadorship, the whole thing. I’m pretty good at a lot of things. I just want to do all of that as much as possible. But acting remains the main focus,” he said.

Gerard also reflected on how BBNaija allowed him to showcase creative abilities beyond acting.

He said he contributed significantly to wager presentations in the house through drama, dance, poetry and songwriting.

The former housemate also discovered an interest in scriptwriting during the competition, despite having no previous experience writing scripts.

“There’s a certain level of writing I didn’t even know I had because I’d never written a script prior to that,” he said.

Gerard reflects on Kamsy relationship

Gerard also addressed his relationship with fellow housemate Kamsy. He admitted that things developed faster than they would have outside the BBNaija environment.

He said the relationship ended partly because he did not want his time in the house to be defined solely by a romantic connection.

“I didn’t want to just be recognised for being part of a ship. I wanted to be recognised for other things as well,” Gerard said.

Now outside the house, he said the pair remain on good terms but are currently just friends.

“We’re on good terms. We’re good. Regardless of everything that’s going on on the internet, we are okay,” he said.

He added that, with hindsight, he would have taken things more slowly. He would also have allowed the friendship to develop before becoming deeply involved.

Gerard speaks on strategy, friendships

Gerard said one of the biggest challenges in the BBNaija house was determining which relationships were genuine. Another challenge was figuring out which were influenced by strategy.

He explained that the competitive nature of the show often made it difficult to know who could be trusted.

Gerard said he tried to remain authentic throughout his time in the house. However, he now believes being more strategic might have helped him.

He identified Araga and Bluetopia among the housemates he hopes to maintain friendships with outside the show. Meanwhile, he also named Aikuo as the contestant he would like to see win the season.

With his BBNaija journey now over, Gerard said his attention has shifted. He is now using the platform to secure more opportunities in acting and the wider entertainment industry.
