The Bauchi Police Command has apprehended Isyaku Babale, a 30-year-old resident of Anguwan Dawaki in Bauchi Metropolis, for allegedly stabbing his brother to death.

According to the command’s spokesperson, SP Ahmed Wakil, the arrest followed a report received by the Divisional Police Officer of Township Police Station, Bauchi. Detectives were immediately dispatched to the scene.

“They rushed the victim to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) but he was certified dead by a medical doctor,” Wakil stated.

The suspect was apprehended near the Kasuwan Shanu area of Bauchi metropolis after detectives initiated a manhunt. Preliminary investigations revealed that the stabbing occurred after an argument between the two brothers.

“The altercation started when the younger brother (suspect) asked his elder brother (victim) to stop taking Cold Patch liquid, popularly known as ‘Sholi,’ in their room because of the unpleasant odour of the liquid,” Wakil explained.

He added that both brothers became furious and engaged in a physical fight. Subsequently, the suspect allegedly stabbed his elder brother in the stomach with a sharp object.

“Further investigations revealed that both men were always fighting using dangerous weapons,” Wakil added.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Musa, has ordered a discreet investigation into the incident to ascertain the motives behind the suspect’s actions before prosecution.
