Unknown gunmen suspected to be bandits have kidnapped Niger State’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mallam Idris Mohammed.
The Sun reported that Mohammed was abducted in the presence of his second wife from his residence at Baban Tunga, Tafa local government area of the state on Sunday.
Eyewitnesses revealed that the kidnappers, numbering around 20, stormed the victim’s residence around 11:00am and shot indiscriminately before whisking away the commissioner.
As at the time of filing this report, a source close to the family revealed that the assailants are yet to make any contact with the family.
While the state Police Command remains mum on the report, a top government official who spoke on condition of anonymity said “that is what we heard but the bandits are yet to contact the family”.
