APC begs IGP, PTF to provide security for Uzodinma, others
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has asked the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, and the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 for clearance to conduct its governorship primary in Edo State.
The National Secretary of the party, Arc. Waziri Bulama made this known in an interview with The Nation on Friday in Abuja.
He said Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State met with the IGP on Friday to provide security for the Primary Election Committee headed by Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo state and Election Appeal Committee, led by Prof. Mustapha Bello
He said:
“For a rancor free primary, we have written the IGP for adequate security for members of the Primary Election Committee, headed by Governor Hope Uzodinma; the Primary Election Appeal Committee, led by Prof. Mustapha Bello; and members of the APC in Edo State.
“We have also reached out to the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 to seek clearance for the conduct of the party’s governorship primary in Edo State in line with the enabling guidelines.
“We got in touch with PTF following rumours that the state government might not allow the primary to hold by giving COVID-19 pandemic as a reason.
“We have received reports that the Primary Election Committee and Appeal Committee have been meeting to strategize on how to execute their tasks.”
