The Ondo State Security Network Agency, known as Amotekun, has reported the arrest of 33 suspects for various crimes in the state, including kidnapping.

The State Commander of Amotekun, Mr. Adetunji Adeleye, disclosed this on Monday in Akure while briefing the press on the agency’s activities and the arrest of the suspects.

The suspects were apprehended for crimes ranging from kidnapping to housebreaking, motorbike theft, and human trafficking. They were captured in different parts of the state.

Adeleye explained, “For some of them, we have concluded their investigations and they will go for prosecution, while we ensure that the remaining suspects follow due process of the law.”

The arrests included six kidnapping suspects, some of whom had their victims present. The agency also detained individuals who specialized in motorcycle theft by posing as passengers and attacking motorbike riders.

There was another group of criminals who targeted the vandalism of crucial government assets, such as high-tension lines and transformers, which were apprehended in Okitipupa, and the stolen items were recovered.

The agency also arrested a gang specializing in breaking into shops and discovered a warehouse where they stored their stolen items.

These items were subsequently returned to their owners, and the suspects will face legal proceedings.

Amotekun announced that it has prepared to launch a 24-hour patrol with other security agencies to ensure a crime-free Yuletide season.

They assured the public that they are working diligently to guarantee security during the festive period, collaborating with other security agencies and neighboring states to combat criminal activities within Ondo State.
