The lawmaker representing Kogi West in the National Assembly, Senator Dino Melaye, has spoken from his hospital bed at the Police Hospital in Garki, Abuja.

The senator, who is set to go on trial for his role in the shooting of one Sergeant Aliyu by thugs suspected to be loyal to him, is receiving treatment after he slumped when he finally left his hideout and surrendered to the police on 4 January 2019.

Speaking in a video seen by WuzupNaija, Melaye said his blood pressure is high and he feels dizzy.

In the video, the senator was seen struggling to speak loud as he needed someone to amplify his statements.

The police visited him with the intention to discharge him and take him to court to answer to the attempted murder case filed against him.

The Police also reportedly rejected a request by medical personnel at Alliance Hospital to transfer embattled Senator, Dino Melaye, to the National Hospital for better management.

It was gathered that on Monday three consultants who carried out radiology, electrocardiograms test to measure his heart’s electrical activity and Magnetic Resonance Imaging on his body recommended that the senator should be moved from the Police hospital where he was being treated to a medical facility with modern equipment.

But the Force Medical Officer, Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Kaumi Amadu, who was present during the test, was said to have rejected the advice.

A source said,

“The Cardiologist, Neurologist and Pulmonologist that attended to the senator after carrying out Radiology, ECG, MRI and physical examination tests agreed that the police clinic cannot provide adequate treatment that he required.

” So they suggested he should be moved immediately to Alliance Hospital or National Hospital, only for AIG Amadu who was  present during the tests to reject the medical advice.”
