Why is the first lady raising eyebrows on social media?

This may be the question on the minds of followers of the First Lady, Mrs Aisha Buhari following post and reposts on her verified Instagram and Twitter pages which seem to antagonise her husband’s administration.

The First Lady posted video clips of Senator Ben Bruce and Senator Isa Misua airing their views in the Senate over the recent Fulani herdsmen killings and the appointment of Ahmed Abubakar as the new Director -General of the National Intelligence Agency.

In the first video, Senator Isah Misau, representing Bauchi Central district said that “it’s as if (president Buhari) is not in charge. It’s as if some people are the ones in charge of this country. Even the DG NIA that we are talking about, they said some people in the cabal are the ones that appointed that person to be there.”

In the second video, Senator Ben Murray Bruce (Bayelsa East) expressed sadness over the high rate of lawlessness in Nigeria, saying Nigeria is becoming a country where there are no consequences for bad behaviour. “We either have a government or we don’t,” he said.

In a third video, Senator Misau is seen asking if the new director general of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) Ahmed Abubakar is “qualified to be there,” saying that he “failed two exams.”

You would recall that Mrs Buhari had said that she may not support her husband’s re-election in 2019 unless he shakes up his cabinet adding that the president “does not know” most of the top officials he appointed to office.

This is surprising because the First Lady seems to be asking the same questions many Nigerians are asking without satisfactory answers in view. Her posts may further expose the “Change” government to criticisms.

However, Aisha’s social media followers are full of praise to her for ‘standing for the truth’.

An Instagram follower @iambako44 wrote, Much love and respect for you First Lady and We know you stand for the truth… The President is letting the people down that voted for him …Nigerians are not happy with him anymore and come 2019 he might not win the re-election.Food price is so high…Fuel N200 per lit …in some state 8 months salaries have not been paid ..Fulani killed more people than Boko Haram in 2017/18 and the President is not saying anything about it ..instead his saying we should give our land to them for their cows, You don’t see other tribes looking for free land to farm in other states..He send DSS to arrest a pastor for telling people to protect their communities ….@aishambuhari
