After show of love on Instagram, pastor shoots wife dead

Published

The Instagram page of Pastor Sylvester Ofori, the Ghanaian man arrested in Florida for shooting his wife dead, is filled with pictures celebrating his love for her.

Ofori shot his wife, Barbara Tommey, on September 8 at the Navy Federal Credit Union where she worked.

She died at the Orlando Regional Medical Center while Ofori has been taken into custody.

Describing Ofori, Lt. Frank of the Orlando Police said,

“He did have a pretty big online following.

“He speaks to his followers and called himself a prophet. His followers call him a prophet.”

A look into his social media pages shows quite a different picture painted by Lt. Frank. Ofori runs a YouTube channel with 1000 subscribers and videos with few views.

His Instagram page has 2,607 followers, most of whom are currently attacking him on the news of his wife’s death.

His page is flooded with pictures of his church’s flyers and a video showing him carrying out healing on his church members.

He, however, has a good amount of pictures celebrating his wife and expressing his love for her.

Back in 2015, Ofori shared a picture on Instagram showing he and his wife on their wedding outfit.

“We are each of us angels with only one wing, and we can only fly by embracing one another. Mr. & Mrs. Sylvester & Barbara Ofori,” he captioned the picture.

In another picture, he said,

“To have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, so long as we both shall live.”

Despite the show of affection, Ofori is said to have been abusive of his wife for a long time that she was advised to leave him.

A woman, Lisa, who witnessed the shooting said, “I’m shaken up right now, I’m still shaken up.”

She said she saw Barbara come outside to move her car before she was shot.

“The next thing I knew, he raised his hand with the gun in it, and he shot her,” she said.

“The guy was walking behind her. I don’t know if she knew he was there or not. I started running and as I’m running, I hear three or four more shots.”
