A faction of the African Democratic Congress in Adamawa State has announced the suspension of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
The decision was disclosed on Monday by the faction’s state chairman, Raji Sulaiman Zumo, who confirmed the action against the former presidential candidate.
Also affected by the suspension is Babachir Lawal, a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), according to the same factional leadership.
Meanwhile, another group within the party, led by Nafiu Bala Gombe, is asserting its claim to the position of national chairman, deepening internal divisions within the ADC.
The ongoing leadership tussle has drawn the attention of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which has consequently withdrawn recognition of the party leadership under former Senate President David Mark.
