ADC faction expels Bala others amid leadership dispute

The African Democratic Congress faction led by David Mark has announced the expulsion of its former Deputy National Chairman, Nafiu Bala Gombe, along with House of Representatives member Leke Abejide.

The announcement was made during the party’s National Congress held in Abuja on Tuesday.

Also affected by the decision are Kenneth Ehiator, Stella Chukwu, and Elias Adiukwu, who were similarly expelled by the Mark-led leadership.

Despite the development, Nafiu Bala Gombe continues to assert that he is the authentic National Chairman of the party, rejecting claims that he had previously stepped down from his role as Deputy National Chairman.

In a related development, Bala, together with Abejide, staged a protest at the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday. During the demonstration, he called on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and David Mark to stay away from the ADC.

Bala accused the political figures of attempting to hijack the party.

Meanwhile, a lawsuit initiated by Bala reportedly influenced INEC’s decision to withdraw recognition from the ADC leadership under David Mark.
