Big Brother Naija winner White Money has threatened legal action against controversial actor Uche Maduagwu after he described the reality star as an “outcast”. Indeed, the controversy has now become a White Money lawsuit with the public closely watching. Maduagwu also made claims about his Igbo identity.
According to TheCable, the controversy began after Maduagwu shared a video on Instagram. In the video, he alleged that White Money avoids visiting his village because he is an “Osu”, a term associated with an old caste system in parts of Igboland.
Maduagwu also claimed that a recently produced movie by Joseph Okechukwu was based on White Money’s life story. He further alleged that the reality star paid the producers to include his personal narrative in the film, a claim now linked to the ongoing White Money lawsuit drama.
“Tell Nigerians why you avoid going to your own village? Is it not because you be OSU?” Maduagwu wrote.
He further questioned why White Money was allegedly hiding what he described as his “true Igbo identity”.
White Money fires back
Responding in a video posted on Instagram, White Money dismissed Maduagwu as a “nonentity”. Moreover, he accused him of using his name to attract attention online amidst the White Money lawsuit threat.
The reality star said he had known Maduagwu from his days hustling in Surulere. However, he expressed surprise at the direction of his recent comments.
“Uche, I know I knew you when I was in Surulere hustling and doing my things. I never knew you were like this,” White Money said.
He went on to question Maduagwu’s acting career, saying, “You are the only Nollywood actor who has never acted in a movie.”
Legal action threatened
White Money also warned that the matter would not end with an online exchange. He announced that his lawyers would contact Maduagwu over what he described as defamatory remarks relating to the White Money lawsuit.
“Before then, you are going to hear from my lawyers for this defamatory speech made in the name of chasing clout,” he said.
The BBNaija winner also warned Maduagwu about the possibility of an in-person confrontation. He said he would “understand” if they crossed paths.
The exchange has since attracted reactions online, with users debating Maduagwu’s claims and White Money’s response. Meanwhile, the fallout from the White Money lawsuit continues to generate headlines.
Maduagwu’s allegations about White Money’s background and the movie have not been independently established. Also, no court has ruled on the claims at the centre of the dispute.
