Cody Rhodes and Oba Femi could become WWE World Tag Team Champions by the end of the week after being confirmed for a title opportunity.
WWE is advertising Rhodes and Femi to challenge The Vision for the World Tag Team Championship at this week’s WWE SmackDown taping at Boston’s TD Garden.
Despite WWE promoting the bout, the match has not received any televised build, indicating that it could take place as a dark match following the conclusion of SmackDown.
Rhodes is a seven-time tag team champion, having previously won titles alongside Hardcore Holly, Ted DiBiase Jr., Goldust, and Drew McIntyre during his first run with WWE.
Following his return to WWE in 2022, Rhodes also captured the Undisputed Tag Team Championship with Jey Uso in 2023. However, their reign came to an end in less than two weeks.
Femi, meanwhile, has yet to win tag team championship gold in WWE. The rising star is a former WWE NXT Champion and North American Champion, with his North American Championship reign standing as the longest in the title’s history.
