The Enugu State Police Command has detained three male suspects and recovered firearms, ammunition, and hard drugs from them.

In a statement on Sunday, the command’s spokesman, SP Daniel Ndukwe, said that on January 19, police operatives from the Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad, acting on credible intelligence, detained Emmanuel Mba, 31, and Nnam Onukwube, 35, in the Awkunanaw axis of Enugu South Local Government Area.

The suspects confessed to being members of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, with Mba identified as the head and executioner of the group in Enugu South LGA as of December 2025.

Items recovered include one pump action gun, a locally-fabricated Beretta-type pistol, 31 live cartridges, a large wrap of suspected cannabis sativa, one HP laptop, and one motorcycle.

In a related operation on January 31, police raided criminal hideouts in the Agbani axis and detained eight suspects. Following screening, Monday Ezeani, 32, was found in possession of suspected cannabis sativa and 39 pellets of suspected crystal methamphetamine (“Mkpuru-mmiri”). The remaining seven suspects were released after preliminary investigation.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mamman Giwa, reassured the public of the command’s resolve to protect lives and property and warned individuals involved in armed robbery, cultism, and illicit drug activities to repent or face the full weight of the law.
